Story of the Fleur-de-Lis
(the inspiration behind our logo) |
Throughout
the Middle Ages, the symbol of the fleur-de-lis, which is really an Iris, came
to symbolize Christianity. In 496 A.D., a Christian queen perhaps started the
tradition and proclaimed the symbol on flags and banners. Castles throughout the
French and English countryside soon followed in representing the Trinity. In 1789,
French Revolutionaries held the Iris as a most powerful symbol of the French monarchy.
Mardi Gras celebrations revive the emblem with its rich French heritage. Today
it is the official emblem of the city of New Orleans. Modern
day gardeners find the Iris most attractive in their flowerbeds, and they multiply
so quickly that they are especially nice to share with friends and neighbors.
For many gardeners, the fleur-de-lis is a symbol of friendship. We

- the last thing you want to worry about
is the integrity of your special
events professional.
That's why all ISES members subscribe to the ISES Principles
of Professional Conduct and Ethics, listed below. Each
member of ISES shall agree to adhere to the following:

highest level of ethics within the profession of the
special events industry
while maintaining the highest standards of professional conduct.

for excellence in all aspects of our profession by performing consistently at
or above acceptable industry standards.

only legal and ethical means in all industry negotiations and activities.
| | • | Protect
the public against fraud and unfair practices, and promote all practices which
bring respect and credit to the profession.

truthful and accurate information with respect to the performance of duties. Use
a written contract clearly stating all charges, services, products, performance
expectations and other essential information.

| • | Maintain
industry accepted standards of safety and sanitation.
|
| • | Maintain
adequate and appropriate insurance coverage for all business activities.
| | • | Commit
to increase professional growth and knowledge, to attend educational programs
and to personally contribute expertise to meetings and journals.

to cooperate with colleagues, suppliers, employees, employers and all persons
supervised, in order to provide the highest quality service at every level.
